Ottoman Architecture: Basmane Railway Station, Izmir, Turkey

The Ottoman Railway Station ‘look’ is typical of the Empire’s architectural thumbprint whether you are in Greece, Israel, Jordan or Turkey. This magnificent station is right in the heart of the CBD of Izmir, on the Agean Coastline. It still retains the charm of its glory years and is still a mainline terminal, but if you look underneath it is also a major metropolitan underground station.
